Truck shoppers can also choose to upgrade to the Duramax® 2.8L Turbo Diesel I4 DOHC engine that arms the 2018 GMC Canyon with 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This 2.8L Turbo Diesel engine pairs with a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission and gives the 2018 GMC Canyon its highest towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. The 3.6L V6 pairs with an 8-Speed Automatic transmission and gives the 2018 GMC Canyon a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds. Finally, the 2.5L I4 engine of the 2018 GMC Canyon offers a maximum trailering rating of 3,500 pounds.
